WHY ANUOMET?

Anuomet is a Lithuanian word that means ‘back then’ - a distant, undefined moment in the past. It is not yesterday, not last week, but somewhere a little further away - more of a feeling than a date.

Even though the studio is all about the Present, making it inspiring and beautiful, but it’s built on the ideas and memories from back then - and the aspirations for what is next. Vintage objects that inspired contemporary designs and now complement each other in modern interiors. Our Homes that hold old stories and inspire to create new ones. Us, as we are shaped by who we were in the past and all the creative journeys that got us here. That’s what Studio Anuomet is - a space where new ideas and meanings are constantly added, while we create art, collaborate, rediscover vintage objects and create visual stories that connect the past and present. With a hope that those stories will stay for the future too. As now will be anuomet someday.

WHO’S BEHIND?

Hi – Gabija here. Or Gabi, to most, on most days. The main mind and hands behind Studio Anuomet.

From Kaunas, via London, to Berlin. I graduated from London College of Fashion (UAL) with a degree in Fashion Illustration, and while my creative path has stretched far beyond drawing, it’s always remained a strong part of what I make and the way I think.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked across window and retail displays, event styling, prop-making, set design, and art production - not only making things by hand, but developing concepts, experimenting with materials, building small and larger visual worlds.
This mix of experiences and creating/crafting something as long as I could remember (really!) shaped how I see materials, objects and spaces, noticing how they interact not just together, but with us.

Finding something special in the ordinary is kind of my thing. Working with paper, textiles, wood, found objects and natural elements like flowers and vegetables - I am always seeking to see them in a new light. I love turning unexpected colour pairings and everyday patterns into paintings. An accidental texture might spark an idea for a new set or object. At home, I’m always rearranging, shifting pieces to keep the space alive and inspiring.

Studio Anuomet is where all of this comes together - art, design and all the little things in between.
